Chicago World's Fair Presentations - Suzanna Paul

                         Chicago World's Fair Presentations

The Freshmen in Honors English just had an existing project. The project was over the seemingly most inventive concept of the time period, and it was all based off of the reading of "The Devil in The White City." There were many completely wide ranges of projects that students chose. For instance, Dorian Dudley did his project on the Ferris Wheel just solely based on the fact that he thought it was such an original idea.     "Nobody has ever created anything like it before, it is the definition of innovative. Everything ever created was an advancement of something different, but the Ferris Wheel was completely new." Dudley said.    Another student Avery Boes, decided to choose the hydrogen balloon. "I chose the hydrogen balloon because it's very similar to the modern-day air balloon." Boes said.    Tyce Viles had a leading argument on why his gum was the best with bringing in factors of how other things like light bulbs and washing machines, there were already inventions to help with those necessities. "I chose gum because I think it was the most innovative out of all of the inventions created because it had many uses, unlike a Ferris Wheel that you can only ride once." Viles said.

Popular Fall Foods, According to MHS - Kade Fisher

Popular Fall Foods, According to MHS

As the fall season approaches rapidly new foods begin to come in season. No longer are the popular party foods burgers, hotdogs, chips, and other American summer foods. Now is the season for roasted turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, and many more, see what MHS students say are their favorite fall foods.

Pumpkin Cheesecake, I've loved it since my mom first bought it for me when I was a kid. It's been a tradition ever since. We only eat it on Halloween though.” Faith Cordle said. Desserts are an essential staple of fall foods that come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, but many MHS had similar favorite fall desserts, such as pumpkin pie, apple pie, caramel apples, and other apple desserts.

“My favorite fall food is probably chili because when it's cold outside it warms you up.” Jacop Raines said. Dinner foods are also a very important thing of fall because many dinner foods can be seen across different dinner tables on Thanksgiving and also just for dinner on a cold fall or winter evening.

Caramel Apples. As a snack they give the sweet flavor of caramel with the flavor of an apple that makes the perfect snack, in my opinion.” Matthew Hochstetler said. A good snack is always appreciated year-round, but a caramel apple is always good especially in the fall season, when they’re most popular and are fresh from the harvest.

Best Inexpensive Fall Break Activities - Suzanna Paul

   Best Inexpensive Fall Break Activities

In the fall season there are so many fun different activities to participate in! There are lots of different festivals going on and a vast number of pastimes to take part in. Some inexpensive ideas for the spooky season are haunted houses, carving pumpkins, trick or treating on Halloween, and decorate spooky cookies.

The first place that would be fun to take a younger sibling or friend would be the Halloween Hike. This is at Pioneer Park from 3 to 4 on October 29th. It’s going to be a mile long trail around the park with 20 different stations passing out candy.

Another idea for an activity is going to a neighboring Apple Orchard. There are a few within 30 minutes of the main Mooresville area. One popular orchard is Anderson Orchard, here there are countless apples to choose from and a notorious hayride to the pumpkin patch. At the front of the orchard there are big sales of pumpkins and apples and other fall treats to purchase.

Beasley’s Orchard is another very popular place to buy pumpkins, for a good fall decoration. The admission fee for this fall orchard ranges from $10.00 to $14.00. They sell a vast range of different fruits and vegetables in their homegrown farm.

One of the spookiest Halloween-time activities would have to be going to a haunted house. There are quite a lot near and in the Mooresville area, ranging from Indianapolis to Bedford Indiana. One that seemingly has very great reviews that is pretty close, is only $25 admission per person. This specific place is called Hanna Haunted Acres. MHS Sophomore Zaiah Crites in specific had a good experience with this haunted house. "I really enjoyed the haunted house and it had very exciting jump scare throughout the course of it." Crites said.

Obviously on the actual day of Halloween, there is the biggest activity of all, Trick or Treating. Just because someone is in high school, it doesn’t mean they should have to lose the fun experience of dressing up and getting free candy. The students with younger siblings can easily “take their little sibling out for trick or treating,” but in reality, also get some good finds themselves.

Here were just a few of the many different ways to celebrate the fall season ahead. With all of this in mind, the conclusion can be drawn that there is no price limit on a good time. With many varying prices of activities for fall, cheaper options are always available, to still enjoy the season.

Homecoming Dance Overview - Olivia Denny

             Homecoming Dance Overview

The dance was held in the cafeteria and lasted from 7pm-10pm. The school had Hawaiian leis and a photo area set up with a photographer by the door when students arrived.  All photos were posted on Mooresville High School’s Facebook page. There were cookies, lemonade and water provided. Students formed dance circles, there were kids break dancing and crowd surfing. The DJ the school hired was DJ Troy Miller, he travels to different schools for events like homecomings, proms and weddings. MHS Takes a Tough Loss on Homecoming - Kade Fisher

MHS Takes a Tough Loss on Homecoming

It was a tough fight against the Franklin Community Grizzly Bears, but in the end, Franklin took the victory. With an excellent defensive line from Franklin, they were able to keep pressure on Nick Patterson and other quarterbacks on Mooresville’s side. They managed to make some good plays against Mooresville’s offense.

On a lighter note, the MHS homecoming court did well and had a great time during halftime and at the parade. The prince and princess for Homecoming 2022 were Junior Eli Philips and Junior Abby Miller. Homecoming 2022 King and Queen were Senior Nick Patterson and Senior Caia Moore.

Mooresville’s Homecoming Dance was the day after the game and the students had a great time. DJ Troy Miller made an appearance in Mooresville and provided MHS students at the dance with some great music and provided them have a good time.

Homecoming Parade - Gracie Holcomb

                     Homecoming Parade

The Homecoming Parade is a Mooresville tradition to celebrate Homecoming with the entire town. It gives the students that are nominated for homecoming court a chance to be celebrated for running for prince and princess or king and queen. Students are able to show off their floats that they signed up to help build.
One float that was in the parade had the class of 72 who came back to flip the coin at the homecoming game and take part in Mooresville schools homecoming traditions.

Some students featured in the parade were the Mooresville Dance Team. Kate Oberle, a Mooresville senior that was in the parade, was running for Homecoming queen! One of the pictures below features the GSA and drama club walking in the parade as well.  The Mooresville cheer team followed a decade long tradition and got to ride on a fire truck for the homecoming parade! FFA got to walk in the parade with their float that said, “I believe in the future of agriculture.”
