It’s the time of the year when all the stressors of school can be put to rest and the fun can begin. Prom was extravagant this year for Mooresville High School. Many aspiring young women and men showed up to the dance and even post prom to show some school spirit one last time. The school year is nearing its epilogue, so memories will be made.
Amaya Hunt, senior, explains that she had immense fun that night. Being with all of her friends on such an occasion, although it was a bit chilly outside. Before the prom she and the group got pictures taken and then went out to eat at a fancy restaurant. She arrived with the hopes of it being fun and something to remember. In short, she was left satisfied by the dance, music, food and people. Afterwards they headed to post prom for a couple of hours and later in the night everyone met up at her house for a slumber party.
“I had a lot of fun and being with the girls, seeing them at their best made me happy. It was a great highlight for one last school memory before going off into the adult world,” Hunt said.

Senior Josie Scott shared that prom was really fun and the music was way better this year than last. She enjoyed the setting and being outside at the zoo made it more magical. Typically, dances aren’t held at zoos, but it was beautiful, and it worked out well. Before the dance she and her boyfriend Senior Rossi Evans, took photos and went out to dinner. Although she expected it to be cold outside and maybe rainy, it turned out decent. They offered multiple space heaters around the vicinity and the music was good, so time passed by fairly quickly. During the prom she had lots of fun with her friends and boyfriend. The nominees were selected and she was chosen for Prom Queen. After Prom, she attended Post Prom which was very fun in her words. She explains that the parents did really well this year with the activities and decorations. After Post Prom, they were on their way home for the night.
“I guess don’t take prom too seriously, because it’s supposed to be a fun night, so be confident and have fun!” Scott said.
Senior Matthew Danielson disclosed that Prom overall was pretty good. He didn’t know he was going to win Prom King, but he had a hunch. Attending with MHS Alumini Aly Graber they went on to eat out and raced against time to get to Prom. In the beginning he admits that he was kind of skeptical with it being at the zoo, but they said they held weddings there a lot. Upon arriving they were more and more impressed by the setup and seeing everybody with smiles on their faces having a good time. They attended Post Prom as well. He says that the theme was pretty cool and set around streaming services. “Post Prom on Demand” In an overall outlook of the whole Prom thing, he says that he’s glad he went and got to have that memory.
“Don’t waste your time worrying about the things you shouldn’t worry about. Live in the moment,” Danielson said.

Prom is the time of year when all is said and done and the fun can begin. With all the testing to end the year off, student's need a little refresher to remind them of the good times. Dances like these for Juniors and Seniors is a great privilege and tradition that brings students together to mark the set of ongoing memories. Before going out into the real world, it’s nice to close one chapter with a little fun.
